ALL students deserve to thrive.

I commit to finding, funding, and implementing resources that include the needs of all students, from every background, every ability, and every status.

I also commit to the following platform initiatives:

• Assess current state testing results, timing of testing, and communication of testing requirements (for families, schools, and communities).

• Commit to discovering methods to lessen testing burden and stress, including mental health supports.

• Expand student involvement and engagement with school board activities; explore opportunities for a student led committee led by student school board members.

• Enhance education access for all students, especially those in underserved groups.

• Commit to legislative policies that enshrine educational access to all students.

• Commit to highest standard of student funding.

• Further develop local education and career pathways to increase accessibility to college and career opportunities.

• Explore opportunities for an industry led committee adjacent to school board.

In my family, teachers are a large part of our village. They are professionals who have dedicated their time, talent, and treasure to preparing our society members. As School Board Zone 6 representative, I commit to promoting respect and rewarding our teachers through innovative strategies.

My platform initiatives for teachers are as follows:

• Commit to highest standard of student funding.

• Further develop local education and career pathways to increase accessibility to college and career opportunities.

• Explore opportunities for an industry led committee adjacent to school board.

• Assess current WCS employee accessibility to, and engagement with, the WCS Board; increase opportunities for employee engagement and collaborative power.

• Provide standing “Office Hours” for all WCS staff.

• Assess current WCS professional development initiatives; expand access and return.

• Explore staff devleopment programs in peer districts; implement practices aligned with WCS.

• Collaborate with district finance and county leaders to expand salaries; explore supportive state legislation.

Education is the foundation of a health community. Public schools are often the first place students learn about community and the first place they experience community. I believe that in order to have a thriving community, we must first have thriving schools. I am committed to providing our schools what they need to be this bedrock.

I commit to the following community focused platform initiatives:

• Collaborate with the Wilson County Commission to analyze and assess funding mechanisms.

• Explore innovative opportunities to strengthen funding streams.

• Advocate for legislative priority for public education.

• Assess current public accessibility to the Wilson County School Board with goal to increase opportunities for public engagement and understanding.

• Provide standing “Office Hours” for Zone 6 constituents.

• Assess local economic development drivers and postsecondary opportunities.

• Promote and create pathways and community engagement activity with and for students.

• Develop a Wilson County Culture that provides for a thriving community.

As a lover of learning and education, and a parent myself, I am concerned with the shift towards taking public school funding and giving them to private schools through vouchers. As School Board Zone 6 representative, I promise to act on measures that keep your taxes focused on our kids schools.
